Hi Guy

We have now been using PCL for almost 3 years and with the last bug fix to the random missed laps on phidget using homebuild sensors everything i running smoothely.

However have one big wish for the program - in race setting you are able to set the next race as qualification, but aparently this doesn't have any effect on the race that you are about to run

Wouldn't it be possible to make the following 2 things for PCL:

First thing
1. set the time/number of laps for a qualifying session
2. set the lane to be used for qualification - or even better let PCL choose by random choice
3. let all drivers run their qualification - if as a single race based on random selection by PCL - if via championship starting from the bottom (lowest ranking drivers first)
4. from the qualification time make the heat e.g. slowest four to start first - fastest to start last

Only thing the program would also have to take into consideration is when the number of participants does not match number of lanes - here the program should allow the user to decide which heat is to be run for instance with 3 drivers on a 4 lane setup - or even 2-3 heats with only 3 drivers

Second thing
We are using the phidget feature to make track-call and pause/restart via buttons connected to the phidget card - making the program much easier to use for newbies

But we are missing one type of restart - which is "restart with countdown" - since the button is already in the program I would think it should be fairly simple to have this as a "buttonfeature" for all phidget users - really hoping for this Smile
++

If you were able to put in both these features in the program it would just be absolutely perfect.

Looking forward to hearing from you

hi Guy

Any chance that you would implement this in the next version of PC Lapcounter=

Yes, that would be a cool feature, Seconded Smile but optional for number 4 Wink

Guy, do you think having a qualification with race following is a possibility for the future ?
I would love to have the ability to run a qualification period of X minutes for each driver to get his best time alone in the lane of his choice, and once all drivers have qualified it show position and first race lane colour. then clicking restart takes you straight to the race heats.

Folks,

When you make a request like this, it's cool to see you're keen to see it's implementation, but whilst Guy is being flexible to accomodate all these ideas from what are his customers and listening to bug reports, feedback and constructive criticism, you need to be flexible with Guy by simply allowing him to get on with his own normal life.

PC Lap Counter isn't his main project as far as I know, and if you let him get on with it, he can do what he needs to do enough tests and make sure what he implements is robust enough to be released. This MAY result in an update coming out a lot quicker.

Guy may not answer your posts when it's a "Is it done?" or "Any further thoughts" type post because he may be busy with other things - that doesn't mean he hasn't seen it though! Just make your request, and if Guy needs to ask questions for more information, you'll be told via email notifications from the forum system.

Beleive me, I made the suggestion for the Arduino Serial Interface - there were no responses for a while, then suddenly, it's implemented!
