Strange Problem Empty
PostSubject: Strange Problem   Strange Problem Empty16/8/2010, 06:43

Hi guy. I have a 3 lane track which has been experiencing strange goings on. My 3rd lane counts lap but the lap time and lap number registers about 1 - 2 seconds after the car passes the sensor. I can live with this but it is instant on the other 2 lanes.
However, if I set up a fuel race, every time I pass the third lane I get a lap time of 3.4 or so seconds which is below my minimum. An average lap is around 5.8 seconds and I have set my minimum time to 5 seconds. If I disable the fuel, it counts fine again.
I have tried lowering the minimum lap time down to 1 second and the third lane counts fine but the laps are 3.4 seconds and quite obviously wrong.
Please help!

Regards

Parallel port. I have tried with 2 other computers and the same problem!

But it works ok with SRm software

ok, i will make a test but i need more information:
- Which pin of the parallel port you use ?
- Did you use also the sensors to detect pit lane entries ?
- Did you use the parallel port also for starting lights and power control ?

Pins 10, 11 and 12. I have Pin 10 on lane 1, Pin 12 on lane 2 and pin 11 on lane 3. (have tried replacing pin 11 with 13, same result)
- Did you use also the sensors to detect pit lane entries ? Yes same pin for both
- Did you use the parallel port also for starting lights and power control ? - Yes for starting lights but no lane power yet!

Thanks for looking Guy

I test it and it's work fine, i don't have any problem with the lap time on lane 3 ( i test it with pin 10,12,13 where pin 10 is lane 1, 12 lane 2 and 13 lane 3).
I don't test it with pin 11 because pin 11 is inverted (http://www.beyondlogic.org/spp/parallel.htm).
I suggest that you take a look at the parallel port monitor program and check if the pin stay red for a long time or not
