| Hi,
I'm trying to set up Velleman's K8000 interface in order to activate Start Lamps. I want to have it for a near Slot Event in Spain.
Ok, I've done all tests that are explained on Velleman's MAnual, and the board is respondig well. I've connected then the board to the PC: SCL Led is On, an Mains is powered with 220Vac. Paralel port is set as LPT1. Output/Input range are D800-D807 and Output/Input range are D480-D487
I've tried to test the borad via the PC, but I'm not sure if it is working well (PCLC test software says 'trying to conect to K8000...' and stays there). Also, I've tried to test with PCLC K8000 interface, but I can't get any results. I think that there is some trouble with this I/O Ranges, but thery can't be changed from System Administrator.
Could somebody help me with this?
Thanks in advance, djlutz.

| I have tested and it work fine, here is a video and my setup: http://www.pclapcounter.be/Forum_data/K8000Lights.wmv I didn't set detector to K8000 because the K8000 is used only for lights: Here you have to specify the digital IO channel to use, jumper on the K8000 for these channel most be set to "OUT": | |

| Hi Guy,
I think that here is the first problem I've: since my PCLC PC has not a Paralel port, I'm using an extension PCI card. The ports ranges are quite diferent as the normal one's froma a paralel mother board integrated card:

I'm also having other issues with K8000, I will post them on Vellemans forum... http://forum.velleman.be/viewtopic.php?t=1464

| thank for the information, i will check the answer on the velleman forum. if they found a solution i will have to rewrite some part of PCLC to include the new dll ....k8000 with parallel port becomes obsolete, not sure that i will continue to support K8000 in PCLC | |

| I understand you. I was looking for a phidget suplier in Europe but I don't know why I could not find one. Last week it took me 5mins. to find one... The reason for me now is because I've spend 200€ for the K8000 and other Velleman addons. I hope that this guys of Velleman will give me a good way to solve my problem. Then after, I think that this .dll implementation will not be too dificult (I hope). Let's see... | |

| Hi Guy, so, now my K8000 is working perfect. I've tested the k8000 with a PCLC demo on my vista PC and works fine. Now comes the next thema, becasue as I told you, I've added an extra PCI card to my 'Race PC' since that one didn't had a Parallel port. Now the LPT adresses are different (As I told you at the begining of the post). Could it be possible to have the dll updated in order to use that kind of extra PCI parallel card at PCLC?

| Hi Guy,
my office PC is Vista with integrated Parallel port. Here K8000 and starting lamps are working perfect now.
In my PCLC PC at my track, it has WinXP sp2, but the PC did not have parallel port, so I bought a PCI Parallel card, but on that the parallel adress is not the regular, so K8000 is not working with PCLC. Using the new dll and the explanation you could adapt the PCLC to work with that kind of added PCI cards. On the next link you can see other people with the same problems, and the solution: http://forum.velleman.be/viewtopic.php?t=1398&highlight=k8000
Thanks Guy. It would be a great help.
