Since the Firmware v1.4 of the C7042 you can switch to analog mode when the display is not connected : on the C7042 hold the left+Up+Right buttons and press Start 5 times

How do switch back to digital mode again?

To return to digital mode just repeat the operation: on the C7042 hold the left+Up+Right buttons and press Start 5 times
