Pc Lap Counter for oXigen 4

Hello,

Pc Lap Counter for slot.it oXigen V4 is now available, you can download the beta version here https://www.pclapcounter.be/TMP/Pc_Lap_counter_548.exe (the version with the new PWM option is available here https://www.pclapcounter.be/TMP/Pc_Lap_counter_548e.exe )

Good to know:

• Features of Pc Lap Counter for slot.it oXigen V4 are exactly the same as Pc Lap Counter for slot.it oXigen V3 (you will find the features detail here https://www.pclapcounter.be/slot_it_oxigen.html).
  
• The Ghost cars feature is still disabled (you can enable/disable the ghost car feature by editing the O2 ini file , more information here https://pclapcounter.forumotion.com/t1593-enabled-disable-the-ghost-cars#6613)
  
•  The amount of data sent to the dongle is exactly the same as V3 (the amount of data increase depending on the number of cars on the track).
  

How to setup Pc Lap Counter for slot.oXigen V4 (see screenshots below):

• In the "options" window select the detector "Slot.it oXigen V4" and click on the button “setup...”.
  
• The Slot.it oXigen V4 interface of Pc Lap Counter start and will automatically detect the COM port to use (but of course you can change it).
  
• When Pc Lap Counter detect the dongle then the led in the interface will turn to green.
  

Remark:

• You have to Plug the dongle before starting Pc Lap Counter.
  
• At least one controller must be powered ON (otherwise Pc Lap Counter will not be able to connect to the dongle).
  
• Beta version have be tested with the following items:
  
  • blue dongle v4.1
    
  • one SCP 3 firmware 4.1
    
  • one car with chip C firmware 4.1
    
  • Computer with windows 11
    
  
  
  

Can somebody test this beta version with more than 1 car ? (the top will be to make a test with more than 8 cars)

Yesterday we celebrated a digital race at the Jaen slot club:

- oxygen 4.10 system from slot.it

- 7 cars

- Chip C version 4.10

- SCP-3 controls version 4.1

The race was divided into 2 rounds. It was 2.5 hours with the chronos 4.10c software and another 2.5 hours with the pclap 5.48 software.

With the 2 software the system was very similar.

- Of the total of 600 laps that each team did, only 5 laps were lost due to stopping counting

- There were 2 teams that, more or less 10 times, instead of detecting entering the finish line, detected it as entering the pits. Having the pit power at 100% was not noticeable in the speed but that lap was lost and had to be added by hand.

- The 2 softwares were very stable and at no time did they crash. Chronos 4.10c at times counted laps with a delay of 4-5 seconds. Pclap 5.48 counted them all at once.

- There was an average of 5-6 laps below the minimum time per team, although we already know that this is not a problem of the software, but of the hall sensor when passing through the magnetic field of some changes.

Conclusion: The oxygen 4.1 system is very stable. And both chronos and pclap work very well. Although the possibilities that PClap gives you make it the reference software in digital

Thank you for feedback , it's really a good news for oXigen 4.1 and Pc Lap Counter.
Just have a little question : did you made your test with a computer with windows 11 , 10 or 7 ?

We did the race with a PC that has Windows 11 installed. I thought it was the only option, but in future races we will try Windows 10.

Did someone already made a test of the fuel management with oXigen 4  ? , will be nice to make it with more than 8 cars because as you know fuel management generate more data traffic with the dongle and i wonder if the new dongle will crash or not.

Registration closed for the XVII open digital city of Jaen.

It will be a digital challenge. For the Jaen slot club it is a great pride to be able to fill the grid with such powerful teams from all over Spain. It will be a great race.

FYI:
In here are some cases where Pc Lap Counter was not able to connect to the dongle and solution to fix the problem:

CASE 1:
Pc Lap Counter not find the dongle even one controller was powered ON.
The solution was to unplug the blue dongle and plug it again (don't stop Pc Lap Counter, only unplug and plug the dongle).

CASE 2:
Pc Lap Counter not find the dongle , chronoO2 didn't show the controller version and also the software "oXigen protocol explorer" didn't receive any data from the controller (even the controller was powered ON).
The solution was to unplug the dongle,  restart the computer , plug the dongle , start Pc Lap counter , unplug the dongle and plug it again..

XVII DIGITAL OPEN “CITY OF JAÉN” 2024

Conclusions:

The competition consisted of a 9-hour endurance event, with 2 hours of training. We have used the oxygen 4 digital system from slot.it and the software has been PClap 4.58. The car model has been slot.it's oreca.

The competition consists of 3 tests, the first being in Jaen.

18 teams from all over Spain have participated.

It has been a total and absolute success of the system. There has not been any counting problem and laps have flown and at all times the software has been stable and without any type of delay.

I believe that with these recent improvements in software and firmware the future of digital is becoming the present.

Was you using automatic trackcall, fuel usages under the race?

We did not use the gasoline option because it seemed risky enough to us to squeeze the system with 18 devices to overload it more with gasoline. For future races we will try it.

Regarding the use of the trackcall, we don't use it either, but because I don't really know what it is for. Can you clarify it for me?

The automatic trackcall is function that automatic stop then race when a car drop of the track. We use it at our club to protect the car, that have failed off, and protect other cars for crashing into the failed off car.

No, we do not use the trackcall because in a competition you cannot leave the decision to stop the race to a driver, that must be done by the race director.

For use in your home or club, it does seem like a useful option.

On my side i made a test with oXigen 4 and Pc Lap Counter version 5.48 with his PCLC settings and i don't have any problem, so before i investigate more i would like  to know if somobody have already use with success the stop & feature with oXigen 4 and Pc Lap Counter 5.48 (or 5.48c) ?

Version 5.48e include the new option "PWM" of the dongle 4.12,  when you activate the option "PWM"  then Pc Lap Counter will use the average value of PWM for the fuel consumption (in place of the trigger position).
