error parallel port

Hi,i have one problem.When start parallel monitor the program ask me:"priviliged instruction". How do i do to repair this error?Is a wrong setting? Thank's Kessidy confused

I have also windows XP pro and no problem !!!
In my bios the parallel port is EPP+ECP.
In windows XP i have ECP with 'never use interrupt'

you get that error normally when the PC does not have a Parallel port .. I'd guess that the parallel port is disabled in BIOS

Have a look in Device manager and see if a Parallel port exists

I have the same problem on a newer computer even though it have a port.
It's a HP Pavilion that I managed to get running with WinXP.
BUT: Since the computer don't have a com port I bought a (two different actually) PCI card with an parallell port .
The problem seems to be that it get's a high IO adress like $BC00. Or maybe it's the lack of BIOS support for COM and LPT ports.
I can see it peeking the adresses. But most programs have problem finding it.

Suggestions anyone?
