Hi Guy
Here in Denmark some clubs have started to use a lapcounter software developed here in Denmark, that program has some pretty cool features e.g. live timing via the internet
Would this not be worth considering for you to implement for PCL - would be a COOL feature as this would enable racers to follow a race, even if they are not present?
On top of live timing you also have streaming video and chat

live timing would be cool... video/chat is tough, but easly done via other software just an html page we could link to/upload via ftp...nit sure how hard it is to do, cause pclc already generates an html for export at the end of the race

Yes, i am sure it is possible to "autopost" the end results after each segment, but live timing shows the current standings in a ongoing race and every time you cross start/finish it shows the updated standings - really great when following races in which you do not participate
Hope that Guy will considder this function for PCLC

Hi Guy
Any further thoughts on live timing?
We are hosting a 6 hrs race this saturday and of course we are using PCLP, would however promote the event even further if the teams that were unable to participate had access to live timing
For the race we have implemented the RFID driver change box, everything tested and works perfectly - we hope for a great race
p.s.: is it possible to export a drivers and team list incl. the RFID tags to another PCLC installation - this would save us the time of having to insert the drivers once again

Hi Guy
Just wanted to keep focus on the live timing function in PCLC - I am sure this would be a feature that MANY clubs etc. would love to have, great for showing ongoing races to people that do not participate + also very informative for people that do participate but are not standing next to the track
Especially cool for long distance races
Have you considdered whether this is an option you would build into the program?

Another thought.... you could have the PC Lap tweet out updates at the end of each heat/ if there is a record lap set... no need to host anything, Twitter API is open and easy to integrate with, might be a cool/easy feature to add!

We have 2 lapcounting systems in our club, one is PCLC for our carrera track, the other is a danish system for our routed track, the danish system has live timing, and simply posts to a website using the FTP protocol and login information from our web provider
To guy: If you are interested, i can show you a demorace live - just by starting it at giving you the web address
+++
Is a really cool feature and great for drivers that we unable to participate but still want to follow the race
Let me know

Hi guy
I know that you are always busy on implementing new features for PCLC, but having looked through the current setup, the livetiming would be extremely easy to add as you have already the opportunity to show clasification in browser, so actually the only thing needed is an FTP post, that sends this page to a specified webadresse e.g. every 5 seconds as an example
1. update classification every (dropdown with 5,10,15,20 sec.) etc 2. window for entering following: 1 FTP address, 2. username, 3. password 4. folder for the livetiming (e.g. in the root of the webhome /livetiming)
that would do the trick, and people can then go to e.g. www.pclapcounter.be/livetiming/clas.html and see the current standings
Believe me, i know that the above might take some time, only the feature would make the product that much more interesting

Lars
Have you considered using the fact that if you use "Google Hangouts" you can use the features there to select to show your computer desktop, and stream the race to a YouTube channel of your choice? just kick up a zoom window of your choice and select the desktop that zoom window uses to stream it out.

Get yourself a Google Account, go into Google Plus, click the hangouts option, start playing about! You may need to link to a YouTube account to get it to stream. I was having problems this morning, refused to start - not sure why.

Right, here's a quick demo video captured using Google Hangouts.
You can see space for where I would have some webcams. There is a horrible lag because I'm streaming from the same machine as PCLC and Google Hangouts is pretty resource intensive. You may be better of setting up a dedicated laptop to stream from if this is possible.
Oh, and remember to change your sound source so it's from the computer, not any convienant microphone!!

One other trick you could use....
When you set up the Zoom windows, configure your router so that'll port forward an external port to the same port your zoom set up uses. Anyone could then download a demo version of PCLC, type in the external IP address & port number, and watch live race data coming whilst a camera from another feed is streamed in.

This link leads to the config I set up - unfortunately because the meeting was a bit slow we don't have any racing, but it shows that it IS possible to do this.
One webcam & the leaderboard in the BG. Google Hangouts is set to desk share mode.
