Phidgets 0/16/16 detected but IO dropdowns are empty

Hi Guy (and others)

I just received my phidget kit, which includes both the 0/0/4 interface and the 0/16/16 interface

The 0/0/4 worked perfectly and I was able to chose which of the four channels to be used for lane power etc.

Now I tried connection the 0/16/16 board, and PCL shows that the card is activated, but I don't have any posibilities in the dropdowns - any ideas on how to solve this?

Even when you leave PCLC and rerun PCLC ?

just tried opening PCL with the card already activated

chose phidget interface

and exactly same result

then closed the program and opened again - same result?

strangely PCL does seem to recognize the card, but doesn't give the choices for input/output?

any ideas?

Just to see if output IO are available or not when you connect your 0/16/16...in the tabpage "Lane Power", is there any choice in the dropdown ?

Think i found the problem : you have installed the last Phidgets 21 msi !
I have installed the last Phidget 21 Msi and have the same problem (on vista).
Now wait 10 minutes for the solution...

The solution : deinstall Phidget 21 msi , restart your computer and download the Phidget 21 msi from my website: http://www.pclapcounter.be/Phidget21.msi and install it.
Normaly it should work

I have the same problem as Lars, but when i download your version of Phidget21 i get error code 2869 in Vista.
Saying: "Unexpected error installing package. This may indicate a problem with this package"
I have tried several times to download and install it.
Any ideas?

I try on my 2 vista PC , one with Vista professional and second with Vista Ultimate and all working good.
On my vista PC i always install Pc Lap Counter in the folder C:\Pc Lap Counter and not in C:\Program Files because on Vista that folder have special behaviour.
If you have installed Pc Lap Counter in the folder C:\Program Files i suggest you desinstall it and reinstall on C:\Pc Lap Counter.
Of course this will not solve your problem but will prevent other problems.

About the error 2869, i found some information on internet:

I think the solution is :
- Put the Phidget21.msi in the folder C:\PC Lap Counter
- Create a shortcut to the program cmd.exe (C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe) on your desktop
- Right click on the cmd shortcut and choice "Run as administrator", the console will start with administrator privilege
- enter the command cd c:\
- enter the command cd Pc Lap Counter
- enter the command msiexec.exe /i Phidget21.msi

Wierd problem though..

Now further on to the testing.
I had to replace my paralell cable configuration due to that some laps where missing on our 6 track race lane..
Hope the problems are solved with phidget.
