LPT problems (in vista?)

Hello

I have built my own infrared detector which I have connected to the LPT1 (pin 10 and 12). PC Lap Conuter does however not register any activity on the detectors, unless I start the "Parallell Port Monitor". When this program is running in the background, it works just fine but then my startlights gets messed up. The interface should work without that one, right? Is this a problem with Vista (maybe it's possible they didnt add full support for LPT ports in it)?

Unfortunately i can't test it because my 2 vista PC don't have any parallel port

With Vista it's better to use Phidget interface , http://www.pclapcounter.be/phidget_interface.html

With photo electric celule pin on 13 and 15 under vista ok
