Pit Stop Sensing Empty
PostSubject: Pit Stop Sensing   Pit Stop Sensing Empty21/10/2007, 18:28

I'm new to PC Lap Counter and been very impressed. Will be buying the full licence once I've got everything working. Hence, I've two questions:

1. I'm using infrared sensing on pins 10 & 11 for lap timings. Is it possible to use a different sensor for the pit stop. If so, what pins do I use and how do you set in up on PC Lap Counter?

2. The outputs on the pins for the starting lights appear inverted, i.e. the lights go off when they should be on and vice versa. Any ideas why?

Grateful for any advice on the above

1. it's not possible, you can use your S/F detector also for Pitstop detection but with parallel port you can't have separate detector for pitstop (with phidgt interface well)

2. In version 4.45 it will be possible to specify that PCLC have to reverse the output signal also for starting lights (in fact it's already available since yesterday 21H, just redownload and install beta of version 4.45)

Guy,

Many thanks for the reply. Shame about sensing answer, particularly as I've now completed the pit lane switching Crying or Very sad Looks like I'll have to get a phidget Sad

Good news about the reversing of the outputs though.

PostSubject: LPT sensor for pitstop   Pit Stop Sensing Empty24/12/2008, 18:54

Hi everybody

1) Excuse for my english Sad
2) Can we make a double IR sensor for lap timing and pitstop? Using the same port: If the car pass through the finish line it counts a round and if the car stops under the second sensor more than 2" the Lap Counter can unsdestand than its a pitstop?

I have made a wood track with manual change to pitlane. The points will be in parallel (finish lane and pitlane).
The function must be like one lonely sensor.

Thanks.

Yes it's possible to use the S/F detector also for pit stop detection, more information here http://www.pclapcounter.be/parallel_port_pitstop.html

Jurgen,
You can indeed use a separate set of infrared sensors wired to your parallel port (Pins 10 & 11) for your pit stops.
Here is a response that I posted in another forum a couple of years ago.

Infrared (IR) detectors can be wired in series to the same data pin, and any one of the detectors in series will trigger the data pin.
To do this, each detector would need it's own light source, but this is not difficult.

Wiring multiple infrared detectors in series can be useful for sector lap timing, pit stops or drag race timing.

I have personally wired multiple IR detectors in series and know that this works.

You do not need a Phidget Board to accomplish this. I hope this helps you.
